Spatio-temporal Evolutions of Ecosystem Service Value and Human Activity Intensity in Central Yunnan Urban Agglomeration

  • The ecosystem service value (ESV) and the human activity intensity (HAI) are closely related, and the investigation of their spatio-temporal relationship is helpful to the improvement of regional ecosystem service function and the coordinated development of human-land relation. With the central Yunnan urban agglomeration as the research object, based on the land use data and socio-economic statistics, the ESV assessment model was used to analyze the feature of the spatiotemporal evolution of ESV. The HAI assessment model was constructed to measure the degree of disturbance of human activities to the research area in space and time. The bivariate spatial autocorrelation model was used to measure the spatiotemporal correlation between ESV and HAI. The results indicate that: (1) Between 2000 and 2020, land use in central Yunnan urban agglomeration was dominated by forest land and grassland. (2) ESV was decreased, reducing by 1 037.05 million yuan, with a spatial distribution pattern of "higher in the west and lower in the east" "higher in the fringes of the county and lower in the center of the county". The sensitivity index of each category is less than 1, indicating that ESV is inelastic. (3) The HAI was mainly in low intensity, and its spatial distribution evolved with a decreasing trend from the center to the periphery. (4) ESV is negatively correlated with HAI, and the negative effect intensifies year by year. The study aims to provide a theoretical basis and reference for the sustainable development of the region by analyzing the degree of spatio-temporal association between ESV and HAI.
