The Carbon Emission Characteristics of Eco-industrial Parks in Yangtze River Delta and Deep Decarbonization Path of Low-carbon Development

    • Industrial parks are not only the main position of urban green and low-carbon development, but also important starting points for promoting the implementation of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality strategy in the field of ecological environment. Based on the detailed data of energy consumption, gross domestic product (GDP), and other categories of 40 eco-industrial parks, this study comprehensively uses the comprehensive evaluation method and STIRPAT model to explore the characteristics of carbon emissions from the eco-industrial parks (EIP) in the Yangtze River Delta and their influencing factors. The results show that the carbon emission intensity of EIPs in the Yangtze River Delta is mostly concentrated in the range of 0.10-0.75 t per 10 thousands yuan, and the indicators of different parks are quite different. The energy consumption of these parks is dominated by non-fossil energy, accounting for 59.3% on average. Among them, the eco-industrial parks in Shanghai have the highest proportion of non-fossil energy (about 75.6%), followed by Anhui (68.8%) and Jiangsu (59.8%). The fraction of non-fossil energy in the eco-industrial parks of Zhejiang is the lowest (35.1%). GDP and energy structure contribute a lot to the total carbon emissions of the eco-industrial parks, while the land use, industrial structure, and technical level have little influence. Considering the characteristics of energy consumption and carbon emission, combined with the industrial structure and working basis of the EIPs, the carbon neutralization implementation route of "source carbon reduction-process carbon control-end carbon reduction" in the Yangtze River Delta eco-industrial park is identified.
